How are those with the reliablity? I am looking to get an Alfa in some time, because I am mad, but as Doug did with the Ferrari I am looking at the model that will give me least trouble. I like the looks of the GT a little bit more than the Brera.

What engine is yours?

1.9 JTDm, and no issues at all apart from stone chips to the front bumper. It's got 40k on now, and I've done 30k of them. I did test drive the V6 but the front just felt too heavy for a FWD car, and the MPG wasn't great. With the right rubber it handles extremely well :)

When it grows up will it get 4 doors and a bigger engine?

2 doors, but RWD! Ah I can only hope.

I think for them to properly switch to rwd you need to feed them plenty of protein.

They're pretty decent, but wear-and-tear items wear out faster than on other brands. The GTs are basically 156es under the skin so lots of cambelt changes (36k on the TS, 60k everything else), the bushes in the wishbones wear out every 80k-ish (and they aren't replaceable, so it's a new £40 wishbone rather than a £4 bush), check the floorpan and rear inner arches for rust (they're not that bad, but the panels are really well rust-proofed and the underneath is kinda average for the early '00s). Electrically, they're fairly solid but the airbag controller's connectors can corrode and cause the warning light to come on - costs a bomb to get one new, but there's plenty of breakers that'll have one. The other main problem with 156es is the rear window motors, but I guess that doesn't apply to GTs :)

Every so often I see one on eBay and i'm sorely tempted.

I've not had a bad experience with it yet, if that's any help?
